“Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.
Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.
Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?” (goodreads.com)

My Thoughts: I really, really enjoyed Winter. I felt like it was a very solid series ender, and it was definitely one for the fans.
So let’s jump into it. From the beginning, the story takes off and doesn’t wait for anyone. The plot is fast paced and action packed and I feel like if you blink you’ll miss something! However, my one nitpick is that I do think it was a tad bit long. This ties into my point about the plot in that it gave the plot this prolonged, repetitive back and forth feel. What I mean is there was kind of this pattern of someone got captured, then they were saved, then someone else got captured, then they were saved, then someone else got captured then, you guessed it, they were saved. This seemed like it was contrived simply to prolong the story, but not really to further the plot. Okay. End nitpicking.
I enjoyed the characters, both old and new. They all went through so many trials, and grew through them. I liked Winter and how she was portrayed as incredibly ill, but not defined by her illness! All the female protagonist were as BAMF as usual and I loved it! And the gentlemen were on point! I liked their kind of more central role and how were saw them go through trials too!
I love how Marissa Meyer portrayed the Lunar revolution. It wasn’t like “Oh Cinder’s the Chosen One! Let’s all rise up and all of a sudden the queen will be dead!” No. Cinder had to work for it. She had to fail on her first one or two tries. And after that, it took a lot of effort–she had to get the Lunars on her side and get the wolf soldiers on her side and teach people how to fight. She had to try. But in the end, her efforts paid off so greatly.
And can I just take a moment to gush about the romances and friendships in this book! I think the loyalty and faithfulness between our main crew was truly shown–through multiple tests. I mean, man did our crew go through some tough stuff! But through it all, they stayed loyal to each other! Same with the couples–especially Scarlet and Wolf!
All in all, I really enjoyed Winter and I think it will be a fan favorite! Buy it, get it, you won’t regret it!
