The Book Theme Meme | A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Hello and welcome back to The Book Theme Meme, a weekly meme that pairs books and music and hosted by me, Lila. Let me explain the rules of the game. If you want to participate, here’s what to do:

  • Link back to the originator (Lila @ The Bookkeeper’s Secrets)
  • Choose a book o series
  • Choose a song that you feel represents the book (fyi: it doesn’t have to have words, it can be classical or score)
  • Tell us what about the song reminds you of the book. Is it a particular lyric/s? Is it the general feeling of the song? Explain a little.
  • Add your name, blog, and link to your post in the comments!
  • Voila! You’re done!

So let’s get to it!

This week I’m featuring A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas and pairing it with the song “Get Free” by Whissell. Now I have yet to read this book but I majorly spoiled myself for it. Like, majorly. Anyhow, the song “Get Free” basically steps you through Tamlin and Feyre’s relationship at the beginning of A Court of Mist and Fury. The lyrics,

You hold me like you want me to stay

You only wanna keep me from running away

You hold me like you want me to stay

You only wanna keep me on your ball and chain

You don’t get have it your way (3x)

You got a hold on me and I gotta get free

You’re never gonna keep me from running away

describe how Tamlin becomes obsessed with Feyre and locks her up and how she’s like, “No way!”

I love this idea! I’ve actually done this, too, for various books. Cool stuff! 🙂
